Upcoming change to UpToDate accounts - October 2025
In October Single Sign On [SSO] will become available with UpToDate. To avail of SSO, use a PC to access UpToDate, follow the prompt to merge your account [if you have one], or set up a new one. You will now be able to use your library account to log on to UpToDate.
Then you can use your library account to log into the UpToDate App, you will no longer have to reverify your account every 90 days if you do this.
Using UpToDate
To download the UpToDate App, and record CME credits, create an account on UpToDate, using that account when installing on a smartphone etc.
You may need to reverify your UpToDate account once every 90 days, by logging in with it, on the HSE Network.

Merging UpToDate accounts
You can merge two UpToDate accounts if you had a previous one. But you can also change institution affiliation in case you previously had access through another organisation.
Contact UpToDate support with any issue you have.
Note on login to HSE resources in general
There are currently two ways to login, with the older HSE OpenAthens accounts gradually being replaced with the HSE Library account. See FAQ for more information.
What to do if you move organsation
When a user moves to another organisation they can do a couple things:
-
Register for a brand new account
-
Keep new account
-
Merge with existing account
-
-
Register as a returning user
-
During the registration process there is an option to enter your account credentials from your previous account.
-
For the users that have been accessing through SSO they will need to have an UpToDate username and password to merge the two records together (or to login as a returning user). At present you need to contact UpToDate Customer Service team to do this.
