Do General Practitioner trainers or GP trainees have a right to a HSE OpenAthens Account? And how do I apply for one?

Answer

General Practitioner trainees and trainers are on the HSE payroll as there is a contract in place between the ICGP and the HSE.   So they are entitled to an Open Athens or Health Libraries Ireland account.

There is no need to apply for an Open Athens or HSE Library  account as you will automatically be provided with one based on details provided by the ICGP.  You will receive an email that will contain a username and a link to set your password.

If you are having any difficulties with your Open Athens or HSE Library account please contact the HSE Library Helpdesk https://hse-ie.libanswers.com/form?queue_id=1980
